Linux System and Network Administrator

VIMAAN is looking to hire a talented Linux system and network administrator to join our exceptional engineering team developing the next generation of information systems for the warehouse. You will be responsible for administering Linux servers, from bring up to deploying and managing our software stack. You will also be responsible for networking infrastructure and security. You will work with cross-functional teams dispersed across timezones that includes full stack engineers, computer vision and machine learning engineers, firmware and hardware engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers to define, design, develop, qualify and deliver enterprise grade systems.

Linux System and Network Administrator Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and maintain scaleable enterprise computing and storage environments, both on-premise and in public cloud
  • Install Linux on bare-metal servers, deploy drivers and software stack, and install patches
  • Build and maintain network infrastructure, deploy new routers and switches, firewall, WiFi access points, install patches, and ensure
    proper functioning and uptime.
  • Monitor and maintaining the systems and network infrastructure, and troubleshoot system issues
  • Responsible for capacity planning, evaluating and procuring new equipment, working with vendors, and managing inventory of spares
  • Provide system administration support to a global team

Linux System and Network Administrator Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, System Administration, or similar closely related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience installing, configuring, managing, troubleshooting and maintaining Linux systems and networks
  • Experience with VLANs, Wi-Fi networks, NAT, IPSec, Firewalls and VPN
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, and expertise in using tools such as traceroute, tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and JNCIE among others
  • Experience with configuration backup and restore and configuration management
  • Experience with calculating and documenting power, space and HVAC requirements
  • Good written and oral communication skills to effectively work with global teams
  • The role requires flexibility with time of work to provide support to a global team

How to Stand Out

  • Understanding of and designing highly available systems and infrastructure
  • Shell scripting or scripting using another popular language such as Python
  • OS installation using PXE, Kickstart, etc.
  • Experience with server management including troubleshooting performance issues
  • Knowledge of hardware, storage systems, RAID, data backup and restore
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Virtualization technologies
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
  • Using and maintaining Ansible and Jenkins
  • Experience with AD, LDAP and SSO technologies
  • Experience with Nagios, Grafana, Zabbix, and other monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience with security scans and remediating vulnerabilities
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting
  • Self motivated and self managed
